Miss June is a high-energy 4 piece monster which burst onto the NZ music scene in 2014 with the release of their intensely unapologetic punk EP ‘Matriarchy’. They’ve toured fervently off the back of this 10-minute-long ear punch, sharing the stage with artists such as Foo Fighters, Shellac, Shonen Knife, The D4, Die! Die! Die! And many more keen to harness their support.
The group, led by Annabel Liddell, has been described as “some unholy union between Sonic Youth and Le Tigre”.
Combining elements of punk, no-wave and rock they create a sound with melodic hooks and fast driven riffs that are immediately recognisable and entirely their own. Adding to this with Jun Park, Chris Marshall and Tom Leggett’s volatile and enigmatic live performances, there is no wonder why they are the one to watch. Now with the impending release of their debut album it is the perfect time to catch them before everyone else does.
